I have to add one more comment...

With a flat grind...that means it could make a fantastic Stripper Mmmm....

YUP, don't remember if it is you or someone else that has an SS4 stripped but with the flats above the grind left black. I think it looks nice that way.

I know that all three Companies share equipment and such, and that will contribute to the time required for Dan to get blades out to us. BUT I would also wager that Dan puts A LOT of time into prototyping, trying different grinds, thicknesses and blade profiles and heights along with handle shapes. I suspect THIS is what takes so long, the desire to get it "Just right" for us. Is it possible that Dan is a Perfectionist!

Yes, but he has to start with a vision. No knife is ideal for every function...so Dan has to start with performance parameters in mind. If the 1/4" is true (I'm not certain yet, as mistakes have been made on the website before)....then I think it's safe to speculate that one of Dan's criteria was to build a TANK of a small knife. It's a great idea really. Modern day yardkeeper / howling rat.

Me and many others. I agree, I like the look that a flat saber grind leaves when stripped....shiny primary grind with an oxidized saber. Sexxy and you know it!

Haha, I was thinking the same thing! When I first saw the production version on the Main page, first thing that came to mind was the HRLM (sorry Dan). I would have said the Yard Keeper but it was before my time and I've never seen many pictures of it.

Even at a 1/4" it should slice really well if its thinned out in the main grind. I personally like the look at feel of the basic handles better. The mudders are comfy but lack of a palm swell alwwts made the akward feeling at the same time IMO. I would have prefered it in 3/16"s though. Today is a good day for me. LE Rodent Solution is paid for and I got to order my most anticipated Sykco release.

It's still a great offering but just different from the prototype.

Hope Dan sticks with the mudders on the 411.

Well...just went back and reviewed the Yard Keeper specs. It was 4.5" blade length, 3/16" thick, and of course SR-77.

Even the WarDog (which I thought was thick) was listed at .235".

Well, I didn't order a Fatty B4....so, ORDER IN This might be the new truck knife.

Interested to hear why they made the change as well. I'm sure there's a good reason.

I'm curious as well. The thing for me is. I hooe the FFG is a really thin one. I personally don't mind a 1/4 blade. But on one this small I don't think its necessary.

I might have to cave and order one. I've got an MPLE, but it is special. Not only does it have my JYD number on it, but it was a gift from SOMEONE, who I still don't know the name of (And that is what truly makes it special). So I use it for some things but nothing really abusive. Now this little Brutus of a blade, could take it and laugh at our puny efforts to what we would call abuse it.

Curse you Dan!
